yes--it seems im very derelict in entering posts here--Facebook entries seem to take over sometimes---
2018 was a very harrowing year for so many throughout Southern Oregon and California--looking back at July, we are so very lucky to have escaped the perils of mother nature with only loosing 5-10 acres of mountainous terrain and trees. When I see entire cities/communities vanish in smoke and flame, not to mention loved ones mising, I am grateful for how we were spared.
We did set up 2018 Rhythm on the Ridge in September, a fundrasier jam session with show cases of local talented musicians that we support. It was a fall/harvest time celebration and to give thanks for surviving ---our local area have many moments of fear & worry from forest fires. This was the 3rd time hosting this event, possibly the last.
Sequoia & the Brinkerhoffs with friends have supported several musical fundraisers this year, including the jubilee celebration at Cantrall Buckley, the "save the park" event for Merlin Park, Rhythm on the Ridge for the Rogue River Institute, and Porchfest in Grants Pass, with moneys going to needy young people in josephine county.
Al built his first instrument with the help of his mentor and pal Jerry Firth, an excellent craftsman in our area. Together they fashioned Al's own version of the viola Chipera, a brazillian acoustic guitar like 12 string .
There will be anupcoming new acoustic folk, gospel, country, bluegrass circle jam starting in January of 2019 Second Sundays, 3pm at Climate City Brewing (the old Brewery restaraunt)--no power equipment--all are invited to join in.

The ranch (thunder ridge ranch ) has held acoustic music events on and off since 2008—and the organizers are members of the Oregon Bluegrass Association. Acoustic flavor has typically been the main genre throughout---local and bands from afar.
Private mountain setting up a country dirt road with signs as reminders.
There is an outdoor stage where folks can spread blankets and chairs, their own food & beverages, plus there will be a 6pm potluck on Saturday eve with NO interruption of the music—serve yourself!
Concert performances start at 4pm with full sound system by Chesek Sound
Although free to attend, donations will be accepted to help cover the costs of the music and campout expenses. The hired bands are very talented, multi instrumentalists and have performed in festivals, town events, private celebrations, eateries, wineries and contests. Solo, duo, trio, and larger groups will be performing in the 5 groups lined up-
It would be a long distant goal to develop this into a weekend campout similar to ones that have gone by the wayside like several bluegrass festivals, and private campouts .
Anyone can show up whenever on Saturday if they want to find a camping space, hang—jam etc---bring your own refreshments, chairs etc, as there are NO vendors. Rough camping only-no hook ups—no open fires.
